Program Detail

Career Cove is a high school curriculum focusing on Workplace Preparation: Attitudes, Behaviors and Communication. This curriculum includes a study of employer/employee attitudes and behaviors and their effect on the workplace, as well as lessons on the importance of effective communication. A strong emphasis is placed on ethical decision making as students research an ethical decision making model and learn how to use this model in both professional and personal life. The goal of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to understand aspects and realities of the business world.

The Career Cove Curriculum assists students by allowing them to:

• Learn various personality styles and to understand how these styles affect interpersonal relationships, both professional and personal,
• Gain awareness that employers want employees who are honest, responsible, respectful and self motivated,
• Prepare a correctly written resume, cover letter and employment application,
• Practice components of a successful job interview and evaluate their interviewing skills,
• Better understand business/personal ethics through involvement with local businesses,
• Investigate possible career choices.
