Finance Park FAQ’s

Overview

Volunteering on the day your child visits Finance Park will be one of the most memorable experiences of your child’s school years.  The following information will help you know what to expect and how to prepare.

IMPORTANT:  You must be an approved volunteer at your child’s school in order to participate.  Please make certain that you notify your child’s classroom teacher of your desire to volunteer on this field trip. They can help facilitate the registration and approval process.

FAQ

What is my role as volunteer?

You will be assigned to work in a business with a small group of students. Your duties include:

  • Assist students in completing worksheets to determine their Net Monthly Income and Budget Guidelines
  • Help the students make choices for each expense (I.E. house, car, savings, etc.)
  • Help students balance their check registers and “pay” bills.

Do I need to attend a volunteer training session?

Yes.  The mandatory training session will be held the morning of your child’s visit.  You will need to arrive at Finance Park prior to the students’ arrival.  Check with your school to find out your exact training time.  Your child should report to school as usual that morning.  They will be transported to Finance Park at the appropriate time.

If you have volunteered at Finance Park within the last two years, you do not need to attend this training and should arrive at Finance Park 15 minutes after your school’s start time.  Please note that Enterprise Village and Finance Park are entirely different programs.  Previous volunteer experience in one program does not prepare you for the other.

What should I wear?

Your attire should be business casual, but make certain to wear comfortable shoes as you may be on your feet a great deal.  Also, it can be a little chilly, so you may want to bring a sweater or jacket.

What are my lunch options?

You may purchase a Dominos lunch for $2.50 (cash only).  This lunch consists of cheese pizza, cinna-sticks and a drink.  There are a limited number of garden salads available on a first-come-first-serve basis.  You are welcome to bring your own lunch.  Refrigeration is available.

Am I able to bring a younger sibling?

No. Due to insurance restrictions, volunteers may not bring non-participating children.
